This summer, GIRAFAS invites children on an exciting cultural journey to the Nordeste, Brazil's Northeastern region—one of the most vibrant and influential regions in the country.
Shaped by Indigenous, African, and European traditions, the Nordeste is at the heart of Brazilian culture, known for its powerful music, joyful dances, rich storytelling, and unforgettable flavors. It is the birthplace of iconic figures such as Luiz Gonzaga and Caetano Veloso, and a region that continues to inspire Brazil’s artistic identity.
Over the seven weeks, children will explore the traditions of the nine states of the Nordeste right here in New York City. Through hands-on activities like authentic food tastings, cultural music and dance, regional crafts, and creative play—many inspired by our time in Fort Greene Park—GIRAFAS Summer Camp offers an immersive, joyful experience that celebrates diversity, creativity, and discovery.

SAMPLE DAILY ROUTINE
- 9:00-9:30: Arrival/Working Cycle (Free Choice)
- 9:30-9:45: Snack/Bathroom/Diaper Change
- 9:50-10:00: Departure to the Park
- 10:15-11:50: Circle Time/Guided Activity of the Day and Free Play/Games
- 11:50-12:10: Lunch Picnic at the Park
- 12:20-12:50: Departure to School/Bathroom/Diaper Change/Read Aloud
- 1:00-2:30: Nap/Rest Time
- 2:30-3:00: Snack/Bathroom/Diaper Change
- 3:00: Departure
TUITION :
$150 Daily Rate
$690 Weekly Rate
Fee for early drop-off (at 8:00 am): $23/day or $105/week
Full payment is due upon registration.
Fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
No make-up classes are offered.
